Singing lessons in Sheffield for adults and school-age pupils
Compare private adult singing lessons with school-age Music Hub tuition, an open community choir and a restricted university scholarship route.
Private singing lessons for adults
Pius Hume identifies as a Sheffield singing teacher and describes private tuition for adults as well as children, across a range of abilities and musical styles. His one-to-one page says the first session includes a voice assessment, followed by technical exercises and songs chosen with the learner. This gives an adult beginner a clear way to discuss comfort, style and goals before setting a lesson plan. Current lesson times and capacity are not stated on these pages.
School-age lessons through Sheffield Music Hub
Sheffield Music Hub is a City Council service for school-age children. Its lesson page accepts applications for in-school or out-of-school singing lessons. It lists evening lessons at All Saints Catholic High School on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and at Red Tape Central on Mondays and Wednesdays. The Hub says it will provide a start date when it can; ask what the child’s school offers or whether an out-of-school place is available.
An open choir and a university scholarship
Sheffield Cathedral Community Choir welcomes singers with any level of experience without an audition. It rehearses on Sunday afternoons in the Nave and accepts new singers through the year, making it a group route for practising repertoire and listening with others. The Cathedral’s choral scholarships are a different commitment: they are for undergraduate or postgraduate singers at Sheffield universities and involve three services each week. Application notices appear on its vacancies page.
